MARRIED: A Big, Beautiful Wedding filled with Love & Laughs in Virginia Beach
Claire and Alex’s Virginia Beach wedding day struck a beautiful balance: their gorgeous, meaningful celebration boasted elegant details with plenty of laid back energy and hilarity sprinkled in.
We began working with Claire and Alex when Alex reached out about photographing his proposal to Claire on the beautiful grounds of the University of Virginia. To Alex’s credit, his was a masterfully orchestrated and thorough plan with maps and diagrams, which worked out amazingly: Claire was more than adequately bamboozled by Alex’s scheming. What followed was a sweet, hilarious, and easygoing session with the two fresh fiancees, who consistently radiated a contagious, goofy, and warm energy.
We were thrilled when they asked us to come along for their wedding day in Virginia Beach. The wedding party got ready in the elegantly adorned dressing rooms at Princess Anne Country Club, with the gals sipping mimosas and taking instant photos in floral silk robes, and the guys exhibiting an incredibly organized and efficient prep time.
The two tied the knot in the stunning Holy Trinity Catholic Church among ear-to-ear grins, overjoyed tears, and one incredible mishap involving a candle and the officiant’s stole – which left Claire doubled over with laughter.
They left the church as husband and wife through a receiving line of cheers and raining pink flower petals (our favorite ceremony exit to date)!
We made the most of a brief detour to the beach for some more traditional posed shots, knocking out an entire mini session’s worth of photos in less than ten minutes.
We returned to cocktail hour on the scenic grounds of Princess Anne Country Club and followed up with an amazing, energetic, live band in the ballroom for more hours of dancing, thoughtful words, and plenty more tears.
Claire and Alex finished off their wedding day with a bombardment of bubbles as they headed out into the night via matrimonial golf cart getaway.
